First: safety
Check for injuries and call 911 if anyone is hurt. If the vehicles are drivable and it's safe, move out of traffic. Turn on hazard lights.
Document everything
Photograph all vehicles, license plates, the road and any visible damage before anything moves. Get names, phone numbers and insurance details for everyone involved, and the contact info of any witnesses.
Report it
Call the police if required or if there are injuries, and notify your insurance company promptly. Ask for the claim number and write down the name of anyone you speak with.
Choose your shop
In Kentucky you pick where your vehicle is repaired. Get an estimate from a shop you trust before you agree to a repair plan.
Don't sign away rights
Be careful about quick settlement offers or statements before you know the full damage. Hidden damage often shows up once a car is taken apart.
